In Far Cry 6, a brutal dictator named Antón Castillo rules the fictitious Caribbean island of Yara. He intends to restore the country by making his people grow a unique tobacco that is used to make Viviro, a ground-breaking cancer treatment. After a violent confrontation, players take control of Dani Rojas, a local Yaran who joins the resistance against Castillo’s rule and joins the guerrilla movement to aid in Yara’s liberation. By comparing Yara’s beauty with its underlying savagery, the narrative examines issues of oppression, freedom, and the desperation that propels a revolution.
