The events depicted in Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) are 100 percent fictional. Rather, it was prompted by tragic events in real life that involved animatronic eateries such as Showbiz Pizza Place and Chuck E. Cheese, most notably a mass massacre that occurred at a Chuck E. Cheese in 1993. There are fan theories that link the game’s lore to the real event, even though creator Scott Cawthon has said the game’s fictitious story is not based on truth.
