A version of the HDD Regenerator software, known as HDD Regenerator 2011 Final, was created to fix physically damaged hard drives by repairing “bad” sections instead of merely concealing them. In order to repair surface damage to the disk and possibly retrieve data that is no longer accessible, it employs a patented “reversal magnetization” method. This particular version, which was made available in 2011, was a software program that could be started from a USB drive, CD, or DVD and it physically scanned the hard drive to identify and fix damaged sectors.
